Doomed
Keys Public School in Deep River is slated to close.
Some bureaucrats in Toronto have directed our school board to save money by closing our schools. Keys Public School is slated to close this September and Morison Public School the following September. This will leave Deep River with a single (public) school building housing all grades from kindergarten to grade 12. The fact that not all of the students can physically fit into what is currently Mackenzie High School and still meet ministry space guidelines seems of little immediate concern. But hey -- close enough for government work!
The local populace seems resigned to the closure of Keys School (old and in need of repair), but is fighting strenuously to retain Morison School (modern and in good repair). For more information or to join the fight, visit the resource page: Closure of Morison and Keys Schools
Just another reason to join the Rural Revolution.
