Before

I'm a little late in posting today.

Late yesterday afternoon a line of severe thunderstorms passed through the area, knocking out power. This morning, the radio is reporting severe wind damage out the Wylie Road. Electricity came back on after about three hours in Point Alexander, but was out for much longer in Deep River.

I didn't take my camera to town last evening, but I should have. With no TV, computers, or air conditioning, the streets were alive; people were out sitting on their front steps, talking to their neighbours, going for walks. Kids were out on their bikes and playing in the streets; the tennis courts were full. Take away electricity, mix in a hot humid evening, and the old-time small town returns.

The posted photo was taken Monday in the Barron Canyon in Algonquin Park. It was the same weather system, but before it turned nasty.
