Power Restored

The storm mentioned on Wedneday was more severe than I had realized. Associated with the line of thunder storms was a microburst that touched down in the vicinity of the Wylie and Bronson Roads. Hundreds of trees were flattened, completely burying the roads, bringing down power lines, and isolating several homes. By around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, a state of emergency had been declared in the Town of Laurentian Hills (which encompasses Point Alexander).

With external assistance, including soldiers from Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, the roads were cleared and power restored. The photo shows the restringing of power lines along the Wylie Road by Hydro One crews. (Hydro One is the agency responsible for distributing electricity in Ontario.)
