Indian-pipe   Indian-pipe -- Monotropa uniflora. A plant entirely lacking in chlorophyll; it is wholly dependent upon mycorrhizal fungi in the soil for its nutrients. The fungi, in turn, get these nutrients from the roots of the surrounding forest trees. While the trees and the fungi have a symbiotic relationship, I have no idea what the Indian-pipe brings to this party.
