Waterfront Property
An ancient shoreline of the Ottawa River.
10 500 years ago, when the glaciers had receded sufficiently to allow the "Great Lakes" to drain down the Ottawa River valley, this spot would have been about 50m underwater. 1 000 years later, the water level would have dropped sufficiently for this spot to emerge and form part of the shoreline on the abandoned river channel that flowed through Sturgeon and Maskinonge Lakes. By 5 000 years ago, the drainage of the Great Lakes had switched to the St. Lawrence River and the Ottawa River reached its modern level, about 40m below and a kilometer and a half distant from this spot.
