Saxifrage

While Saxifrage means "rock breaker", these ones are not making much progress. Despite several thousand years since the subsiding of the Ottawa River following the retreat of the glaciers, this slab of granite has seen little significant soil development. But in the spring it blooms with saxifrage and columbines.
