Ottawa Bonnechere graben

Bedrock   Solid ground. Well it looks pretty solid. But these rocks are actually the edge of a fault that formed 570 million years ago during the breakup of the super continent Rodina. A 35 mile wide piece of bedrock downdropped to form the Ottawa Bonnechere Graben. The Ottawa River flows along this fault down to the St. Lawrence Rift which was formed at the same time.
