Air Ambulance

An air ambulance is being prepared at the Deep River and District Hospital. While the Deep River Hospital is an excellent small hospital, it is sometimes necessary to transport critical cases to Ottawa, 165 km distant (200 km by road).

Much of the work in constructing the helipad was undertaken by the the 2 Combat Engineer Regiment from Canadian Forces Base Petawawa. The resulting facility can operate 24 hours a day and is much more satisfactory than the previous procedure of closing the Balmer's Bay Road for landing and take-off.
