Remains of Cockburn pointer boat on St Andrews Lake in Algonquin Park

A Sad End   The remains of a Pointer decaying on the shores of St. Andrews Lake in Algonquin Park. The Pointer was an extremely manoeuverable flat bottomed wooden boat, sharply pointed at each end, that "could float on a heavy dew". It was the workhorse of log drives on the rivers of the Ottawa Valley and much farther afield. The standard red paint is still faintly visible on the stem.
