Platanthera blephariglottis Northern Whitefringed Orchid

(photo by Bob: 2008-07-22 - explore

Habitat   The habitat of the (Northern) White-fringed Orchid. At this location, they were growing, scattered on the bog mat well away from the water's edge (except for one), and usually in association with small evergreens (as here). Since I was unwilling to leave my canoe and attempt to walk on the bog mat, they were difficult to photograph. (They say that the only good thing about falling through the bog mat in a kettle bog is that your body will be preserved for millennia.)
