Wild Turkeys

... along highway 60 in Algonquin Park.

We're not sure whether this is an unusual sighting or not. Turkeys are not mentioned in "Checklist and Seasonal Status of Birds of Algonquin Park" (reprinted 1997), but, in the Ottawa Valley they have been extending their range north during the last decade (global warming?). They seem to be established in the Pembroke area and are occasionally encountered as far upriver as Point Alexander. We had one as a regular visitor about four winters ago but haven't seen her, or any others, since.
