Ice Out at Point Alexander
While it is still difficult to launch a canoe in Deep River, ice out has occurred at Point Alexander.
2004 April 15

While there are still ice floes in the bay, the Ottawa River is essentially clear of ice at Point Alexander. This view is down River, looking towards Mount Martin. The mouth of McConnell Creek is to the left of the sand beach on the right.

This view is up river towards the mouth of Presqu'isle Bay. While not obvious in this picture, it appears as though Presqu'isle Bay is still ice bound. This is consistent with the lack of significant flow in the bay. Also the shallow water on the Ontario side of the river is still ice covered (as at Deep River).
