Deep River Ice   

Because the Ottawa River narrows between Deep River and Chalk River, it tends to clog with pack ice. Consequently, the ice remains longer off Deep River than at Point Alexander. But with care, you could probably launch your canoe from the Deep River Pier if you really wanted to.

Reports have it that for the last several days, bald eagles have been fishing the edges of the pack ice. I may have seen a pair today, but I'm not sure. I returned later with better binoculars but all I saw were gulls and crows.
